An app and a keychain that keep your phone out of your workout.

Tap-In blocks the apps that pull you into scrolling between sets, and keeps your music and tracking running. A 3D-printed NFC keychain makes the session impossible to quit early.

The problem

Scrolling between sets makes training feel harder and quietly cuts your volume. People open their phone to log a set or skip a song and come back ten minutes later.

"I came to track my workout. I stayed to scroll through Instagram."

The keychain

Blocking apps in software only goes so far, because you can always end the session yourself. Once the keychain is paired, the only way out is a physical tap. The idea comes from precommitment research (Ariely and Wertenbroch, 2002).

It's 3D printed in two colors of PETG with a flush inlay. Getting the inlay clean took print versions V5 through V7.2 on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini before the production settings were locked.

The brand

Built for a gym at 6am: near-black, chalk white and one hard green that carries the line you're meant to remember.
